June Picnic and the Flute Giveaway
We had a great day for the June NRFC Cookout on June 21- not too hot to spend some time outdoors in the shade of a maple tree. The food was delicious and abundant! Thanks to all who brought the eats. It was good to swap some flute info and to hear some stories of adventures past and future. The highlight of the NRFC gathering surely was the flute giveaway. Circle member and flutemaker Ed Dougherty generously donated for a doorprize a beautiful redwood flute in the key of F. It had spalted pecan accents, and burned-in dragonflies. Jon Norris was the winner and he treated the Circle to a nice song on it. Thanks, Ed, for the nice gift to the NRFC. Details about out July meeting will be coming soon!

June NRFC Picnic — June 21, 2008!
Flute Folks! Here’s news about our June Neuse River Flute Circle gathering. We’re having a cookout on the first full day of Summer – June 21. And you are invited! We’ll have it at John Kincheloe’s house & we’ll start at 10:30 a.m. as usual – rain or shine. It will be great to see all you flute dudes and dudettes again — we have lots to talk about! Many new flutes to hear and see! New songs to play! New people to meet!
About the food for the picnic:
John and Susan will provide the grill, hamburgers and hotdogs, condiments, and the buns. Also the iced tea and assorted soft drinks. Oh, yes — the plates, cups, napkins, and utensils, too! (How much food should we have on hand? How about if you let John know you are planning to come….)
You can bring a salad, veggies, your favorite side dish, chips, or a dessert. (Also your personal favorite beverage, if you wish.) Somehow a potluck picnic always works out, but if you want to let John know what you’ll be bringing, that may be useful info.
