January 2009 NRFC gathering Saturday, 1/31
Join us at our first Circle gathering in 2009!
When: Saturday, January 31, 2009 @ 10:30 a.m.
Where: Loco Lu’s Café in Raleigh (off Glenwood in the Oak Park Shopping Center)
What: Neuse River Flute Circle January gathering
Our special guest will be Lorna Joseph who is visiting us from Ohio (She is wintering on the Carolina coast south of Wilmington and wanted to join us.) Here is a bio of Lorna. As you can see she will bring a lot to share at our January meeting. I am hoping she will want to play some for us and talk about her style and NAF flute experiences:
Lorna Joseph
Lorna has been playing transverse flute since childhood and currently plays in a 60 piece ensemble. She is a member of the Miami Valley Flute Circle and facilitator of the Central Ohio Native American Flute Circle. Lorna has played at various venues around Ohio. She has enjoyed playing at the Boonshoft Museum of Discover, SunWatch Indian Village, the Thirsty Ear Cafe and for numerous school children. The highlight of her musical journey so far has been performing a duet with Mary Youngblood on stage at Musical Echoes in 2005. Lorna is currently working on her first CD. She was a rising star performer at Zion Canyon last year.
There is news about a possible Scott August concert in March! We will have plenty of time to hear some Santa flute stories from each other, and, as always, we will have an open mike for any and all. This will be a great time to hotwire your inspiration to play! Lou will have the coffee and cocoa ready…
Keep making the music, and I hope to see you there on Jan. 31!
Flutefully yours,
John Kincheloe
