Scott is a frequent headline performer at some of the largest Native American Flute events in the country. He is a master of both the Native American Flute and the Anasazi flute. His CDs Distant Spirits and New Fire were Nammy nominees, and his Sacred Dreams was a winner of the Native American Music Award. A reviewer in Voice of the Wind has had this to say: “August has a style that is all his own that continues to evolve and grow over time. He has certainly become one of the finest composers for the Native flute on the scene today.” Another reviewer has written of August’s latest CD: “Lost Canyons is captivating, engaging and exhilarating. It nourishes your spirit and is a balm for the soul…brilliantly conceived.” For more about Scott August go to www.cedarmesa.com
Vendors from the Neuse River Flute Circle will have tables in the lobby before and after the performance. Some very nice flutes, beadwork, and jewelry will be at the event.
As if that is not enough, read on… Earlier in the day on Saturday, March 21, Scott August will offer a workshop from 2-4 p.m. for intermediate level NAF flute players. His workshop focus will be on playing the flute, improvisation, and creating songs for the Native American Flute. Tickets for this opportunity are available in advance. There will be limited seating for this workshop, so those interested should sign up soon. Note that this is an entirely separate event from the evening concert, and separate tickets will be required for admission to each event.
