Rave Reviews of the Scott August Workshop and Concert in Raleigh!
“I just wanted to say thanks again for putting together the Scott August workshop and concert. I am always amazed at the talents of the musicians out there and the amazing versitility of the NAF in the hands of an artist like Scott (or Nakai or Mark Holland, Peter Phippen, etc). All have such different styles but the music is just as appealing!
“I enjoyed the BBQ and fellowship after the concert as well. And I meant it….once I retire, I’ll be happy to help, in any way I can, to put together a festival or whatever you have planned…
“Come south sometime!! And maybe we will find a place to camp and host our own tri-state gathering some day!!

“I wanted to thank you for arranging for Scott August to come to town and for all the behind the scenes work you and your wife did. I really appreciate it. I know everyone appreciates it. I don’t anticipate coming down from Saturdays high anytime soon. Scott’s workshop was fabulous and I learned a great deal. His concert was incredible. He is just an awesome performer and a wonderful teacher. Very inspiring.
“And I do have flute envy for a Coyote Oldman flute now that I have heard one.
“Thanks again!
“I feel very fortunate to be part of this flute circle and hob knob with such great people who share similar interests.
“PS, when can we expect Mary Youngblood?

“I just wanted to say again how much I appreciate all you did to get Scott to NC!
“He is my favorite NAF player and it was such a wonderful weekend for me! It was my first fluting event I have attended.

“Thanks for bringing him.

“Thank you for all the work you did to get Scott here, and to coordinate with Merideth for the workshop and for the concert. I think it was a great opportunity for local people, as well as a chance for Scott to connect with NC flute people. I think he would probably return, especially if we took him back to THE PIT!
“I know I enjoyed both the workshop and the concert…. Best to you

And Scott August writes back:“You and everyone, were just good company and lots of fun. I had a great time. It went by way too fast and seems like a hazy dream somehow. But I know it wasn’t — just good, fun memories to cherish. Thank you for passing on the notes. It’s nice to see them…Please let everyone know I had a great time, enjoyed meeting everyone and think you have some really fun, great, interesting people in your circles and the surrounding ones. You all, or should I say Y’all made me feel welcome, at home and comfortable and special. I can’t tell you how much this means to me. It reminded me of how the flute can be a great uniter and friend maker. How it breaks down walls, both the walls inside ourselves and outside. And how much inner peace and joy they bring us.I hope that I get the privilege to play for you all again soon, and visit your wonderfu l part of the country and enjoy your warmth and hospitality.Warm regards, Scott
