Neuse River Flute Circle

Hey Fluties! Let’s finally get together again at Loco Lu’s Coffehouse on Saturday, February 20, 2010 at 10:30 a.m.   Our first meeting of the new year (thanks to Old Man Winter!).  Did we all survive the Holly Daze? We have a lot to talk about…including possibly hosting  Mark Holland in late July. Who is he? (I think he is one of the best musicians playing world music on the NAF these days.)  Also possibilities for performances and meetings at Bond Park in Cary, upcoming trips to the big Flute Festivals. Did Santa bring anyone a new flute? Bring it and show it off!  And this time let’s try something.  Let’s pull ourselves into a circle and make some music together. Someone starts a short musical phrase – anything at all  — and the next person in the circle picks up the music and does her/his own variation (or even something totally new!).  We can just continue around the circle. No pressure, just some fun playing and listening and sharing. Some people even think this kind of music circle is a cure for stage fright…  Maybe so, maybe not.
